To help along the way and plan for your hike you can purchase the complete “Sunshine Coast Trail Guidebook” from the Visitor Centre located at Crossroads Village Mall 4871 Joyce Avenue, Powell River. It's a must for anyone considering doing the trail and includes a FREE Recreation map when purchased via this website.

The Sunshine Coast Trail was completed in 2001 and stretches over 180 kilometres from Sarah Point, North of Lund to Saltery Bay, South of Powell River. Travel along ocean shores and alpine valleys in one of the most beautiful settings in the world.

Campsites are located along the route and a number of Bed and Breakfasts and Restaurants can be found closer to populated areas along the trail. The trail has various entry points to enable hikers to do short hikes in addition to the complete trail. Markers are in place and can be identified by 3 inch orange squares in visible locations at 1 kilometre intervals, some signage is also in place but is subject to vandalism. If accessing the trail via logging road, call the 24/7 Road Access Hotline at 604-485-3132 before setting out.

Nearly 120km is in very good condition but some areas are more suitable to experienced hikers and bushwhacking may be necessary at times. These pages cover the first 130 km of the trail. This is an excellent safety feature that can be called 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and should be referred to any time you are planning to head out into the back country.

Campsites are located at various spots along the way. As the trail can change, make sure you purchase the hiking book and recreation maps to help guide you. The local Visitor Centre usually has up to date info on trail conditions!
