Powell River, host of the successful 2007 BC Disability Games, is well equipped to meet the needs of persons with disabilities. There is a fully-accessible, multi-sport Recreation Complex, an entire fleet of low floor or kneeling city buses, a handyDART mini-bus system, graded ramps along most sidewalks, as well as adequate wheelchair parking spaces. BC Ferries and Pacific Coastal Airlines also make themselves available to persons with disabilities.
Under the Access Canada Program, hotels in British Columbia are graded with one of four rating levels that address the needs of people with minor to severe disabilities. Call our accommodations providers ahead of time to ensure your needs are met.
Inland Lake Provincial Park is home to the award-winning 13 km (8 mi) fully wheelchair accessible trail surrounding the beautiful and serene Inland Lake. There is a project underway to further enhance the accessibility of the lake and updates can be attained by visiting www.modelcommunityproject.ca.
